”WAL!! Storm got his tails all tangled up again!” Fin yelled dragging crying little animal boy behind him.
“I didn’t mean to! It was an accident!” Storm sobbed. All his six beautiful long tails where a chaotic mess behind his back. It was impossible to see where one tail began and the other one ended.
“It’s not an accident if you do it on purpose, buffoon! I told you not to try to do knots with them but you didn’t listen!”
“I-I’m not a bu-buffoon!”
Waleria stopped combing her long hair and turned towards the kids. She petted the little boy’s furry head and gave him a sad smile. The maiden was constantly melancholic so seeing smile on her face made the boy stop sobbing already.
“It’s all right. Let’s not start calling any names,” She said, “Fin? Could you leave your brother with me for a while?”
Finitybi frowned for a moment as she was about to still add something, but then she turned and walked away kicking stones as she went. Waleria let out a sigh. Fin was a good big sister, but her sharp tongue was not the best thing to have around while comforting a small boy.
When Waleria was sure they were alone she took the tangled lump of tails on her lap and started untangling them.
“Can you tell me what happened, Storm?”
“I wanted to try out how make reef knots! On our last trip to world I saw sailors doing all kinds of cool stuff with ropes! I wanted to try out if I could do that too!”
“Did it work?”
“Yes! It was really fun! I could lift stuff up a lot better than before! But then I wanted to try out what happens if I combine knots. It was super fun, but then I could not figure out how to open them anymore… Wal? I’m not a buffoon, am I?”
Waleria finished untangling the tails and hugged the little boy.
“You are not a buffoon, Storm. You are clever little boy who is never afraid to try things out.”
“But I messed up again.”
“It’s alright to make mistakes once in a while. That’s the best way to learn after all. Next time you’ll know your limits better.”
“Really? Mistakes help me learn? Maybe I should do even more of them so I’ll learn even faster!” He was being his enthusiastic old self again. Storm was never unhappy for long.
Waleria smiled and ruffled Storms short fur.
“Sure. Just come and see me again if your tails need untangling and I’ll do that.”
“Okay! Thanks Wal! See ya!”
